Help, I need to learn APA! Where can I start?

Has your instructor told you to use APA style? Confused by what it is and how to learn it?

Learning to use APA style is a challenge for many students at Bow Valley College.

Here are 3 steps you can take to make the process of learning APA style easier:

STEP 1: Go to the Library's APA Guide

Everything you need to know is in the library's online guide for APA style.

Begin with the Start Here: What is APA Style? and In-Text Citation pages for an introduction to APA style with many helpful examples.

STEP 2: Try a Tutorial

The library's APA guide has 6 self-guided, interactive tutorials that walk you through how to format assignments correctly.

Introduction to APA Style: In-Text Citation
Introduction to APA Style: Reference Basics
How to Reference Articles in APA Style
How to Reference Books, Reports, & Documents in APA Style
How to Cite & Reference Web Pages in APA Style
How to Cite & Reference Multimedia in APA Style

STEP 3: Visit the Library

Library staff are available to help you with specific questions related to APA style. Having trouble citing a resource, such as a book or website? Not sure how to format your title page in APA style?

Bring your questions to the second floor of the RGO Library & Learning Commons (LLC) in North Campus for support from our Librarians and Learner Technology Support Associate.
