Library User of the Month

November 2014

Saebom Kim
PN Course

I am from South Korea and have been in Canada since last two years.  I encountered many barriers as an international student. On my first day in Canada I could not speak a single word of English. I took ESL courses and also put myself in situations where I had to use English.

Now I am taking a PN course at Bow Valley College. I use library resources including computers and project rooms almost every day.

When I was working on my research papers, the library databases were of enormous help to me. Library databases cover vast information resources.  In addition to the databases, a presentation by the librarian gave me an idea on how to access databases find academic articles.

Library project rooms provide useful space for group work and group study. There is an efficient system for booking rooms in the library.

I have also attended the ESL Conversation Club and the Writing Club offered by the library. They are really great. I enjoyed writing club. I got chance to practice free writing where I can express my thoughts. Eventually it helped me in learning skill for my research writing.

I cannot express everything here however, one thing I would like to mention is that we can do great as long as we have enthusiasm for achieving our goals.
