Fiction Friday: The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

“It may be unfair, but what happens in a few days, sometimes even a single day, can change the course of a whole lifetime...”

In 1970s Afghanistan, twelve year-old Amir seeks to win a local kite-fighting tournament with the help of a loyal friend (Hassan). Unfortunately, the Russian invasion ensues and causes Amir and his family to flee to America. Later, Amir returns to Afghanistan (now under Taliban rule) to seek redemption.
In 2007 American  Marc Forster directed a film based on the novel.
